How We Created a Unique Experience in Whistler Village
The Property
The Après is a thoughtfully designed studio suite located right on Main Street in Whistler Village, offering an experience that blends the energy of the village with the cozy warmth of a mountain retreat. Steps away from restaurants, shops, and the gondola, this vacation rental was designed for guests who want to immerse themselves in Whistler’s social heartbeat and culture.
The Challenge.
When we first stepped into The Après, it had great bones but little soul. The location, right on Main Street in Whistler Village, was unbeatable, yet the interior told a different story.
The suite was filled with dated furniture, tired décor, and deferred maintenance that made the space feel more like a forgotten relic than a modern mountain retreat. It lacked energy, character, and any real connection to Whistler’s vibrant culture.
Challenges At A Glance:
- The property lacked soul and was very tired.
- The previous ownership had it styled to look like a hawaiian getaway (literally), even though it was in a ski resort town.
- The suite had some deferred maintenance concerns.

Our Approach.
- Celebrate Local Culture – We collaborated with local artists and a Whistler brewery to create a feature mural showcasing the brewery’s iconic mountainscape, as seen on their signature IPA. This instantly connected the suite to the Whistler community and gave it a distinctive identity.
- Create a Vibe – We chose modern lighting and bright colors mimicking a 1970’s ski jacket vibe. The result is a space that feels relaxed, stylish, and unmistakably “Whistler.”
- Extend the Experience Outdoors – The private patio overlooking Main Street became an extension of the suite; we furnished it with comfortable seating and cozy lighting so guests could enjoy their beer on the patio.
- First Impressions That Matter – To tie everything together, we designed a custom postcard and paired it with two local craft IPAs; the same beer featured in the mural. The card reads:
“Welcome to The Après! The first round is on us.”
